Gianfranco Ferré, who passed away in June of 2007, was a fashion designer and architecture graduate who earned the moniker the architect of fashion for his well-sculpted, original designs and academic background.He began his fashion career as an accessory and raincoat designer in the 1970s, before launching his own collections for men and women-- showing his first couture collection in Rome in 1986 . Gianfranco also served as Stylistic Director for Dior from 1989 to Spring 1997.
